Day 12 - 13 Lübeck and The East Sea

Yeah, we've made it to Lübeck, we beat the heat, the road works and diversions, the  tricky surfaces that slowed us down and after 1100km we have arrived!

The last 60km were not as flat as we had expected, in fact around Ratzeburg it was somewhat hilly and a local lady advised us to climb the short steep hill ahead of us  instead of going through the forest trail that we were checking out on our phones. She warned that the forest trail, due to the dry weather, had loose gravel and numerous small ups and downs, which could make cycling difficult and even force us to push our bikes. Trusting her advice, we opted for the short steep climb—and it was absolutely worth it. At the top, we were greeted with a breathtaking view of the lake and valley below, thank you for the good advice local lady!

We're staying 4 km outside Lübeck in Camping Platz Lübeck Schönböcken.  The reception lady was a bit surprised when we said we wanted to stay two nights instead of a cyclists one. She was a bit strange and mumbled about maybe not having space, honestly look at the picture below! To be fair it did get a little fuller later, but nothing she had to worry about.

This is Lübeck, we're super happy to be here and took a day to explore and buy some famous Lübeck marzipan, Niederegger Marzipan.

The highlight of the whole holiday was spending a day at the East Sea, just a 40km round trip from Lübeck including a coastal cycle to Travemünde and nearly getting our sandwiches stolen by thieving seagulls on the beach, the young one was especially cheeky, honestly kids today!

We had stormy, sunny, windy, hot weather all rolled into one happy day with a costal festival thrown in.
